Pieter Bas Bouwman, Artist Based in Amsterdam

Pieter Bas Bouwman investigates the tension between what persists and what disappears. His work explores transience and the subtle traces left by systems of value, consumption, and daily life. Through repetition, he creates structures that shift between order and disorder, revealing how stability and chaos coexist within the same visual field.

He works with various materials and uses absence as an active element, allowing what is not present to shape meaning as strongly as what is. These choices create spatial and conceptual landscapes that reflect cycles of accumulation, fragility, and change.

Bouwman’s work invites viewers to slow down and look closely at the temporary, the repeated, and the overlooked. His practice opens a space where interpretation remains fluid, and where value is understood not as fixed but as continually transforming.
